Smart Shopping: Purchase Multi-Use Bags

Tip #4: Purchase Multi-Use Bags: True, wouldn’t it be lovely to buy a load of different bags for every occasion and not have to worry about how much they cost or how impractical they might be?  Well..in this day and age, I don’t know about you, but I certainly can’t do that.  That’s why I suggest buying bags that you can use for more than one type of occasion.  I’m sure many of you already do this, but I just want to emphasize the point.

Here are all the ways I use my Large Longchamp Le Pliage tote (and the few Baggu’s I always store inside if I run out of space)

  • So..when I stroll out from the office around the corner to Safeway I can put groceries both in the Le Pliage and in the reuseable grocery bags inside.
  • If I need to carry an extra pair of clothes/shoes I can fit them in there
  • Can be used as a lunch bag and book bag and laptop bag (I’ve sewn a soft and slightly cushy fabric sleeve for the laptop to keep it safe and secure though)
  • Perfect carry-on bag to double up with a backpack or roll-on.

So, I hope you take the suggestion and do the same. Check out some other bags that are perfect mulit-use bags: Longchamp Le Pliage, Chinese Laundry Embroidered Tote, LeSportsac Travel Tote, Big Buddha Postman,

Wallet Wednesday! Jane Marvel Sunshine Wallet

Maybe you’re like me and you miss the sunshine this winter and that’s what draws you to this wallet.  Anything to get away from the destestable fog that has seemed to salk me the past few days. Or maybe you just love the vintage 70’s feel and print from this Sunshine Wallet from new designer Jane Marvel. Possibly, it could be the lining, pockets and compartments.  Whatever it is, I’m loving this wallet and it’s whole vegan package (yep, completely eco-friendly ya’ll). Give Jane a chance and be a first adopter of this lovely designer and her line.

Sale Saturday! Dutchy CB Basket

This Dutchy CB Basket handbag has already been under $100, and so always been a steal.  But now the CB Basket is on sale for $70, that’s downright wonderful.  Yeah, so what, it’s not leather - it still looks good and is great for you vegetarian shoppers. ;)  Anyway, if you want something with a bit more subtle detailing, I’m going to suggest the CB Basket. I like the little button nubs that adorn this bag.  And the paisley type print lining is darn cute.  Oh and btw, it comes with an eco-friendly shopping bag too.  Oh dang, two for the price of one!

Kenneth Cole Eco Tote

You know how there are t-shirts and bags and such with witty phrases or deep thinking quotes, etc?  Some of them I think are lame, and some are pretty cool.  Well this Kenneth Cole eco-tote accomplishes both.  ‘Cause ain’t it so true?  I chuckled and was like.. “aw..yeah..” while I subconsciously nodded my head in agreement.  Whether it be excess baggage that we have to carry like groceries etc, or that extra pound we got from not excercising for the past 3 years (ahem..that would be me), or all the emotional baggage we tend to lug around instead of discarding - this bag applies to you.  So if you want a bag that’s good for the environment, will make people cock their head and nod in aggrement, and not be too witty that it’s dorky or TMI - this Kenneth Cole Eco-Tote is for you (and me and everyone else for that matter).

Roxy Gracie

Proof that you don’t always have to spend a lot of money for a great bag.  The Roxy Gracie Satchel is a cheap bag, without being a cheap bag, if you know what I mean.  At only $36, the Gracie satchel is a steal. No Joke.  The key to buying quality bags that still look fashionable despite not being of 100% leather or high-end with brand name on it - structure.  The bag can’t be overdone and at the same time, it also can’t be without adornment or embellishment.  If the bag is too plain, it could look too plastic or cheap (in a bad way), and if it has too much going on..it’ll just look gaudy, and again..cheap.

The Roxy Gracie does has just the right amount of gathering going on. Plus with the slightly distressed metallic material and flattering, no one would be able to tell you only paid $36 for it.  Oh and btw, the Gracie is completely eco-friendly, made of animal-friendly PVC.  You can’t go wrong with the Roxy Gracie, looks great and is easy on the wallet. :)

ECO-Friendly Bag - BAGGU Reusable Shopping Tote

In some cities there’s this little thing that’s going on where people are starting to get charged for bagging their groceries in plastic bags.  They’ve been doing this for years in Europe and it seems to have caught on in the States now.

So, to help you help the environment and save a few bucks try out my favorite eco-friendly bag,  the BAGGU Reusable Shopping Tote (3 pack).  I love that these bags safely hold a ridiculous amount of groceries AND and can be folded-up in a neat little square and to be stored in my bag after. This means I’m less likely to forget to bring them to the market when I buy groceries like I do with the less convenient signature green Whole Foods reusable grocery totes. Now I just keep a folded up resuable tote in my bag at all times. Don’t forget you can use these bags pretty much for anything and anywhere so don’t just limit their functionality to the supermarket. Plus, with more than 30 colors/patterns available, there’s no doubt you’ll find at least a few colors you’ll have to have of the BAGGU Reusable Tote.

Saltbox ‘Sea Turtle Chainlink’ Tote

No longer are kids sportin’ the Jansport backpack with its lifetime guarantee.  Now I’m seeing girls from the pre-teen to grad student using the canvas tote.  I’m guessing this isn’t the best thing for the backs, but they’re young and want to be a bit hip. At less than $50 a pop, Saltbox’s totes (this one and others) are a steal and my favorite ‘new’ school bag.  It’s 20% off today only at ebags.com. The funky pattern of the fabric and unorthodox realistic print of the Sea Turtle will definitely make you stand out and will help any student make a statement (in a good way).  And if this isn’t the exact pattern you want, it comes in other colors and graphics to choose from. This tote will carry a laptop and some textbooks and any other necessary items.  Plus the internal zip pocket will keep the small loose items like keys, cellphone and chapstick secure.
