SR Squared Sondra Roberts Mermaid hobo

Example of applying Tip 3 from my previous post: this SR Squared Sondra Roberts Mermaid hobo.  This is a trendy bag, that I like.  It says flapper girl and mermaid at the same time to me.  The dark colors keep it from looking tacky and I think it’s an all around fun bag to spice up a look.  Plus at $45, it’s at the perfect price range.

MARC by Marc Jacobs ‘Pretty Nylon - Little’ Hobo

What? A normal sized Marc by Marc Jacobs bag for less than $200!?!?! Crazy, but true, and I’ve found it for you.  At $157, this cute Marc by Marc Jacobs ‘Pretty Nylon - Little’ hobo is for you.  Crescent shaped with a flattering oversized knotted strap is a bag that I’m very fond of. The foam blue is catching and I also really like the signature metal branding label and matching blue stitched “MARC” on the body of the bag.  Branding is definitely there, but in a tasteful - not tacky - way.

Steven by Steve Madden ‘Tina’ Medium Hobo

I’m not fully sure what it is about a slouchy middle that I like about handbags, but I’m really feeling them now.  Maybe because although I still like the gathered look, my eyes are wanting something a bit different.  The Tina medium hobo from Steven by Steve Madden fulfills the slouchy middle for me.  It reminds me of a fallen souffle, but in a good way. I also really like the metal dog tag style label that matches with the rings that compliment the handle.  Plus, for re-enforcement and lovely extra details there are the extra padded and stiched corners and gold toned studs.  And, with a magentic closure you don’t have to worry about button that can sometimes be hard to match up or a zipper to bother with.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Jelly Jacquard Lil Riz Tote

March by Marc Jacobs ‘Jelly Jacquard Lil Riz Tote,’ my first thought whew..that’s a lot of name, and “Lil Riz” ..sounds gangsta. Well, I think the Marc Lil Riz is well named.  The bag is a bit unconvential and different with the short strap for a big bag.  I don’t mind though, because even if I can’t carry it crossbody, the Lil Riz allows me to snugly fit it on my shoulder or fashionably carry it in my hand without having to bother with multiple staps or dragging it on the ground.  Plus, I love this color, it reminds me of the snow outside that I can see now from my bedroom window.  And..if you didn’t guess from the name “jelly,” the majority of the bag is made from plastic - perfect for durability and easy clean. Marc by Marc Jacobs has a whole line of these Jelly Jacquard bags, and I love them all.

Jessica Simpson Boulevard Hobo

I’m traveling to Boston this weekend for a couple weeks and am a tad sad because when I travel for work that always means my green intake goes down.  I’m a vegetable lover without being a vegetarian. Being on the road doesn’t give me that much opportunity to get my 3 to 4 servings a day of greens.  Sorry.., salad doesn’t always count because it’s mainly water with other stuff that isn’t necessarily good for you.

So here’s my dedication to the vegetables that are so dear to my heart. I like this Jessica Simpson Boulevard Hobo for it’s lovely olive green color and for the sack shape. The Boulevard is definitely something different because of the die-cut fabric corners and add structure and..dare I say.. “pizazz” or what could otherwise have been another nameless bag.  So even if Jessica SImpson isn’t your favorite (she’s definitely not one of mine) ..I have to give it to her..she’s picked good designers.

Steven ‘Hollywood’ Hobo

With his Steven line, Steve Madden has made this Steven ‘Hollywood’ hobo so that it is good enough to carry around in Hollywood.  So, as you stroll the 90210 or walk around the Hollywood Hills pretending to shop for houses. (Yes, I’ve done that before..but be sure to dress the part).  Gathered throughout with ruching on the side I love how it the Hollywood avoids looking sloppy by taming down all the folds with the middle pleated strap that uses magnetic closure to keep things safe and secure. One slight forewarning, the lining is animal print, not my fav, but maybe yours.

Junior Drake ‘Megan’

Pockets, soft leather, and metal - this Junior Drake ‘Megan’ is the type of bag I’ve been seeing around here..from the Montparnasse to the Champs Elysees.  Plus the added bonus of that ‘distressed,’ not to be confused with ‘beat-up’ looked is great as well.  The Megan will definitely age well so no one will every know exactly how long you’ve had it (in case you’re like me with a bag fetish and can occasionally get embarrassed with people notice that yes..once again you’ve got a new bag in hand).  Oh and before I forget to mention, check out all the pockets! They aren’t the traditional magnetic or metal clasp pockets.  I love how the some of them get neatly tucked under a  leather strap that runs through the middle 1/2 of the bag.  This was a great idea by Junior Drake to do this and stand out.

Michael Kors ‘Rehearsal’ Drawstring Bag

I spy with my eye in Paris - a few things - hobos/satchels , pockets galore, the mixing of metals and soft fabric, and the mixing textures and fabrics.   Today I give to you, soft supple leather and hard structured metal with the Michael Kors ‘Rehearsal’ drawstring bag.  Grey of course is all the rage and is a rival with the purple that we’ve been seeing.   To be honest, though I’ve always loved purple, I have been getting a bit tired of it and am glad to take a break from it by showingn this Michael Kors Rehearsal bag.  The Rehearsal is super duper soft as you can see and has a great “collapsed” shape to it. Plus, the bridge magentic strap and metal clasp, great detail to add some pop to the bag without figuratively and literally weighing it down.

Hobo International ‘Bonnie II’

A lovely mid-sized bag with a little of the bowling bag shape that definitely is much more than a bowling bag. The kiss lock is great and almost give the bag a giant coin purse type a look. It’s such a cute bag with great folds and shape to it, how could anyone resist the Hobo Bonnie II?  It’ll most likely look different than any bag you have and will be a great addition whether you get it in this rose color or anything other color.

Saturday Sale! Hobo International ‘Georgina’

Almost $100 off, this the Hobo International Georgina tote is a great deal.  I love Hobo, and I love the Georgina.  Black is always a practical color to have and you can never go wrong with it.  Plus the signature paisley lining and super soft leather is great.  I also really like that it’s a symmetrical pattern, it makes the staple simple black bag (just like the short black dress) - a little less simple and a lot more trendy.  At this sale price, go ahead and buy another bag..it’s cool - I won’t judge..even if you have 5 other black bags. ;o)
